This term we've continued to follow the story of David - from his inaugeration as king over all of Israel through to the beginning of his trouble with his son Absalom. We've covered a few of the tricky stories - like Bathsheba, Ammon and Tamar, and Mephibosheth (we've sure enjoyed the fun names!) - which have led to discussions about following the 10 Commandments, repentance and the consequences of sin.
In worship we've continued looking at different attributes of God, following the alphabet. So far we've looked at Awesome, Blessed, Creator, Deliverer, Eternal, Father, Good, Holy, Indescribable, Judge and King. The songs come alive as the children gain understanding of what they are singing, and our hope is for the children to be able to engage in worshipping God - focussing on him rather than merely singing fun songs.
The children have been practicing praying for each other in pairs and small groups, and we've heard many stories of them continuing to pray at home. It is great to hear that for many of them prayer is the first action when someone is hurt or scared.
The end of term 3 brings us to a break in following the Bible story and our usual routine - term 4 will be focused on reviewing the story so far, in preparation for the end of year break-up; as well as a stronger focus on Jesus and what it looks like to be a disciple.
