Well, we're about to start CrossFire up again after the long break and we're pretty excited about what's going to be happening this year.
A few changes are happening:
WORSHIP - While we did spend the first chunk of each session in worship last year, this year we are going to make it a bigger focus. We'll be looking at what worship is and will be focusing on attributes of God from A-Z - kicking it off this Sunday with 'God is Awesome!'
PRAYER - The kids loved the prayer bags we introduced last year, but we can see that the enthusiasm is waning a bit. So this term we're going to start using the components as a group - we'll do one a month, beginning with the egg timer. Hopefully this will reignite the children's excitement about prayer.
SWORD DRILL - While we have been journeying through the Bible, it's usually been in the leader's hands rather than in the child's. This year we're going to be teaching Bible navigation - beginning with teaching the children how to find their memory verses. And speaking of memory verses, we want to make sure that the children understand what they are memorizing. So each time we locate a verse we'll be figuring out together what God is saying.
BIBLE STORY - Continuing on from the past two years, we've got some very exciting stories coming up as we enter 1st Samuel this term. We have also got the added excitement of the What's in the Bible with Buck Denver curriculum, which we'll be using parts of through the term.
MORE PARENT INVOLVEMENT - As a way to increase parent involvement we're introducing 'Take-Home Sheets' for the children to take home and complete with parents during the week. These will include questions about that day's story and prayer/bible memory challenges to do.
It's going to be a great year!
